Orange is the New Black is more than a hit television drama; it is also a true statement about the current fashion craze. For the past few seasons, the color has dominated the runways; not only New York Fashion Weeks, but also at Paris, Milan and London Fashion Weeks as well. Designers such as Valentino, Givenchy, Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren have added this fun color to their lineups as a staple, hence, orange is the new black.

One reason for the color’s popularity is, the 1970s have been monopolizing collections for nearly a decade. Orange was the go-to color in the 70s, not only in clothing but in home décor as well. Another factor is, globalization as the citrus color is embraced by other cultures, especially in the eastern countries such as India and parts of Africa. Of course orange plays well with almost everything.
Whether worn with warm hues such as browns and olive or cooler intensities like grey and black, orange is possibly the most versatile on the wheel.
Amazingly, there are 210 different shades of orange including Aura Orange and Mango Mojito. To give you an idea of just how popular these colors are, as of 2015, nearly 1200 items were shown worldwide.
