Nail DIY: Fresh as a Daisy

Longer days mean Spring is officially here and it’s time to bring out bright, festive colors! I thought it would be fun to welcome Spring with a daisy nail design – which is April’s birth flower. Read on to see this beautiful flowery tutorial and how you can create the look yourself in just a few minutes.

First things first, gather up your supplies:

  • White nail polish
  • Yellow nail polish
  • Light green nail polish like  (optional: base color of your choice)
  • Top coat
  • Striper brush
  • Dotting tool (alternate: toothpick)
  • Acetone (optional: to clean up around the nail)

After you’ve gathered your supplies you are ready to go! To start, apply 2 coats of your desired base color to all your nails. Mine is this beautiful shade named Gelsey, a lovely light blue-green hue. Don’t worry if you get any polish around your cuticles – just use a cotton swab with a little nail polish remover to wipe away any excess.

Next, with your striper brush, slowly draw a plus sign, adding more stripes criss-crossing each other to imitate the flower petals of a daisy.  Continue with the rest of your nails adding as many daisies as you’d like. I’ve added a couple of daisies on each nail to really highlight the design.

After you have let the white polish dry for a few minutes, using a dotting tool or a toothpick, place a yellow dot in the center of each flower. I used the color Yvonne.

Finish with a top coat for added shine and to keep your lovely daisy nails lasting longer and prevent chipping. Try it out with different base colors or even a different color for the daisy petals to make it to your own!
