We’ve approached National Lipstick month, and what better way to talk about lipstick than by showing you a few of our favorite tips and tricks for all-day wear. From complexion to an occasion, choosing the right lipstick shade might not be as easy as it looks and to help you out we’ve put together this handy lipstick tutorial. With so many options like matte lipstick, lip liner or lipgloss, we’re here to show you how to get the perfect pout.

Read on for simple tips that will work with your style, no matter if it’s weekend or workday.

Everyday Neutral

The most universal lip shade that is flattering on all skin tones is a classic nude. The secret to finding the perfect everyday lip color is choosing a “my lips but better” shade. This means finding a shade similar to your natural lip color. Pictured above is a warm, medium complexion, we suggest our Oak Lip Liner paired with our tried-and-true Soft Redwood matte lipstick. This classic combo will be your go-to for any quick, put-together look.

Pop of Pink

Pink lipsticks come in a variety of shades and formulas. By now, we’re accustomed to seeing the usual mauve or soft pink; but with summer in season we thought why not a hot pink lip! It’s fresh and fun, and the perfect shade to wear for a pop of color this summer. Featured in the picture above is our very own Petal Pink Lip Liner paired with our French Rose matte lipstick on a warm, medium complexion. So if you’re looking for a pretty, bright shade for your weekend outings this season, you’re going to have to give this pink combo a try.

Classic Scarlet Red

If you rarely wear red lipstick, this color can be quite intimidating at first glance. But here are our tips and tricks to taking on a bold lip. First, use a lip liner to outline your lip to prevent any feathering. For a fuller pout, overdraw the contour of your mouth to create the illusion of fuller lips. Next, apply a matching red shade of lipstick to fill in between the lines. Finally, to top off this red-hot look, apply a dab of gloss in the center of the lips. This is a great trick to getting plump looking lip.

To recreate the look above, use our Apple Red Lip Liner to trace the edge of the lips and our Red Brick matte lipstick to fill in. Make a statement of your own by throwing on a matching red gloss like our Golden Rouge lip gloss and you will be ready to take on the night.
