Hello, Honeymoon! Your Essential Packing Guide

So you got the ring, you pledged yourselves to each other in front of friends, loved ones and the obligatory third cousin once removed and sealed it with a kiss.  What’s left? Now it’s time to get away and spend some vital romantic time with your forever love on your honeymoon.

But first you must make sure you’ve packed your bags with everything you may need while you’re away. Check out our packing guide, filled with travel must-haves that will get you ready to go, and enjoy wedded bliss on your honeymoon.

Before you go…

It is now mandatory to carry your identification and marriage documents when you travel. You never know when you may be asked for proof of identity or marital status. Make sure to keep them in a safe and secure place and make copies as well.  When you check into your hotel you may want to consider locking them in your room safe when they are not on your person.

Remember to pack all medications and supplements that you take regularly.  Also, your preferred brand of over the counter medications may not be available where you’re traveling. You’ll want to stock up on, pain relievers, allergy meds, antacids, etc.  You may also want to consider making a small first aid kit with band-aids, cotton balls, cotton swabs, burn/bite ointment, alcohol swabs and gauze.

Toiletries & Make-Up

Space is at a premium when packing your luggage, so be smart with what you choose to take with you.  You can make a trip to your local drugstore store, and stock up on travel sizes of your favorite toiletries. For an environmentally-friendly option, purchase travel friendly refillable containers. Best of all, both options save room in your luggage for souvenirs.  It’s best to use brands that you are familiar with so that you don’t have to worry about the results.

Consider multi-tasking products like our conditioning liquid eyeliner and eyeshadow palette. Our eyeshadow palette can be worn 3 different ways and help save space in your makeup bag.

Most importantly don’t forget your sunscreen and feminine hygiene products. Nothing can ruin a vacation quicker than a sunburn or an unexpected visit from your period.

It’s always a good idea to check the weather for your destination, along with considering your activities when deciding what to pack. Try to create outfits with pieces that can do double duty while traveling, like our Corina Lace Tunic that can be worn as a mini-dress or a beach cover-up.  A nice jersey dress like our Sandra maxi can be worn to explore the local marketplace, or night of cocktails and dancing with a change of shoes and accessories. Clothing that require little in the way of care like ironing are ideal so you can spend more time creating memories, than worrying about avoiding wrinkles in your linen pantsuit.

Choose your footwear based on not only where you’ll be headed off to but what activities you will be enjoying.  If you plan on doing loads of walking, comfortable shoes are a must; whether you’re a tennis shoe kind of girl or prefer a casual slip on loafer. Focus on comfort as much as style. You will also want to pack a pair of shoes suitable for a romantic evening out, like a nice pair of dress sandals or your sexiest stilettos. You may like our Rhone sandals or Karina platforms. The metallic shade is super versatile and perfect for day or evening.

If you plan on being at the beach or poolside don’t forget your flip flops or water shoes. No one wants to have to tend to blisters on vacation.

Since this is your honeymoon, you’ll want to look extra special when it’s time to retire for the evening. The most sexy item a woman can wear is confidence, everything else is secondary. I love our Ashleigh babydoll. It’s cute and sexy and has the built in bra, giving you a 2 in one. While I always encourage trying something new to keep things spicy, you still want to make sure you’re comfortable.  Try on any new outfits well in advance. Make sure it fits properly and you know how to put it on and more importantly (some would say) take it off.

You don’t want to lose the mood because your frothy peignoir is as complicated as the New York Time’s Sunday crossword puzzle. You also want to pack some comfortable items like our Selena Robe for when you’re just relaxing in your room, hopefully enjoying breakfast in bed.

And don’t forget to bring at least a couple of bra and panty sets. You may want to think of bring a wireless bra, like our Alpinia or maybe even some racerback or push-up styles so you have more styling options.

Accessories & Jewelry

You can take almost any ensemble from day to night with just a simple switch of your accessories.  A pair of delicate earrings, statement necklace or scarf can take a pair of jeans and a top from daytime tourist, to evening siren. Other than your wedding ring, avoid traveling with fine jewelry. You don’t want to have to worry about losing your grandmother’s passed down earrings at the beach, or attracting any unwanted attention from would be thieves.

Make sure you pack chargers and spare batteries for all your electronic gadgets you’ll be taking with you.  If you are traveling internationally, double check what type of voltage is used in the country you’re traveling to; you may need to invest in a voltage converter.  You don’t want to fry your blow dryer or curling iron while getting ready for the evening or worse!

Now that the I do’s are done and your bags are packed, all that’s left to do is start the next exciting chapter of your life with your sweetheart. Bon voyage!
